In this class, we will discuss watercolors and how they are not as intimidating as they seem. In fact, they are a lot of fun to paint with. We will go over the two most common methods of painting:  wet-on-dry and wet-on-wet. We will discuss different topics and practice brush strokes, paint values, lifting color, and many others.

In class, we will sometimes do several exercises to practice a different method or technique that will be used. We will then do a painting in class to put those methods/techniques to practice.

The learner must have watercolor paper that is 140lb, not printer paper, cardstock, mixed media, or construction paper. This will lessen the young learner's frustration down the road. A beginner's brush set for watercolors will also be helpful. 

***If your young learner is using tube watercolors, I highly suggest that small amounts of the paint be placed in a palette that closes. This will allow the paint to dry between uses and help to make the paint last longer. Learners are also less likely to use watercolor paint like acrylic when stored this way. The wonderful thing about watercolors is that you can reactivate any dried watercolor in/on a palette with water for use.
