Hi, this is Mrs. C with Innovative Tutoring. If you are looking for a plain, straightforward, to-the-point teaching of math concepts, this is your class. I do use a variety of methods to teach, but my goal is to make sure that the students master the material.  I want them to learn, to gain knowledge.  The word "teacher" means "one who is apt to teach".  A good meaning of the word "teacher" is 
"one who is able to explain and demonstrate concepts in a variety of ways for a variety of different learners and learning styles. A good teacher is a good learner—they learn how their student(s) learn—and modify their teaching accordingly." I strive to attain that goal in my classes.
This ongoing class will prepare the beginning and young readers to step into the reading world.  The short vowel, long vowel, consonants, and letter blend sounds will be taught by original funny characters and songs. I will also use constant repetition and praise. As the student succeeds and does well, they will be rewarded with a silly reward dance and a gold star on their personal reward chart. When their chart is filled, I will send it to the student.
The first class of each week will be centered around a vowel and its sound.  Classes 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13  will deal with the short vowel sounds.  Class 1 (January 29, 2021) the student will be taught the short "a" sound with Annie the Ant. Class 3 (February 12, 2021)the student will learn the short "e" sound with Ellie the Elephant.  Class 5 (February 26, 2021) the student will learn the short "i" sound with Iggy the Iguana. Class 7 (March 12, 2021) student will learn the short "o" sound with Ollie the Ostrich.  Class 9 (March 26, 2021) the student will learn the short "u" sound with  Umbi the Umbrellabird.  Class 11 (April 9, 2021) will have the student reading basic CVC words and sentences.  Class 13 (April 30, 2021) will have the student singing all 5 songs and reading words with the vowel sounds. 
Classes 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14 will deal with a consonant and its sound.  Class 2 (February 5, 2021) will teach the student the consonant "b" and its sound. The student will also learn to blend b-a.  Class 4 (February 19,2021) will teach the student the consonant "c" sound for cat.  The student will also learn to blend b-a, b-e, c-a, and c-e. Class 6 (March 5, 2021) will teach the student the consonant "d" sound. The student will also learn to blend b-a, b-e, b-i, c-a, c-e, c-i, d-a, d-e, and d-i.  Class 8 (March 19,2021) will teach the student the consonant "f".  The student will also learn to blend b-a, b-e, b-i, b-o, c-a, c-e, c-i, c-o, d-a, d-e, d-i, d-o, f-a, f-e, f-i, and f-o. Class 10 (April 2, 2021) will teach the student the consonant "g" in goat. They will also learn to blend b-a, b-e, b-i, b-o, b-u, c-a, c-e, c-i, c-o, c-u, d-a, d-e, d-i, d-o, d-u, f-a, f-e, f-i, f-o, f-u, g-a, g-e, g-i, g-o, and g-u. Class 12 (April 16, 2021) will teach the student the consonant "h". The student will also be taught to blend b-a, b-e, b-i, b-o, b-u, c-a, c-e, c-i, c-o, c-u, d-a, d-e, d-i, d-o, d-u, f-a, f-e, f-i, f-o, f-u, g-a, g-e, g-i, g-o, g-u, h-a, h-e, h-i, h-o, and h-u. Class 14 (May 7, 2021) will teach the student the consonant "j" in jaguar.  They will also be taught to blend b-a, b-e, b-i, b-o, b-u, c-a, c-e, c-i, c-o, c-u, d-a, d-e, d-i, d-o, d-u, f-a, f-e, f-i, f-o, f-u, g-a, g-e, g-i, g-o, g-u, h-a, h-e, h-i, h-o, h-u, j-a, j-e, j-i, j-o, and j-u.
Starting in Class 15 (May 14, 2021) the student will be taught to blend the letters into words, i.e. b-a-g = bag, b-e-g = beg, b-i-g = big, b-o-g = bog, and b-u-g = bug. Class 16 the student will be taught the consonant "k".  Class 17 the student will be taught the consonant "l".

After these sounds are taught, the young reader will be given instruction through a variety of beginner and young reader books. They will read with the teacher, with the class, and by themselves.  As they grow in confidence, their strength in reading will grow, and they will acquire a greater reading ability.
