Students will learn color mixing with simple forms and with monochromatic colors, complementary colors and secondary colors. I have been teaching for about 20 years. I am a professional Artist and a teacher as well as a parent so I have had plenty of experience. I consider myself a natural teacher. I love kids and teaching. Watching children become inspired and seeing their excitement when they create an idea with their own hands is pure joy. It gives them the confidence and self-worth that everyone needs in this life we all live.
Students will need watercolor paper of good quality. Canson or Strathmore are quality brands. Weight of the paper should be at least 140lb. Size is your choice but I wouldn't go smaller than 8x11". You can buy it in 30 page booklets at Wal-mart or on Amazon. Watercolor paint Red, Yellow and Blue. The student will also need a cheap packet of acrylic craft paintbrushes. They come in sets that have a range of sizes. Make sure there is one brush with a width 1 inch. Another supply we will use is wax crayon, rubbing alcohol and salt. I will update a list if we need anything else as the class progresses.
