Your child will practice reading, spelling, and grammar skills and add a new vocabulary word to their written and spoken vocabulary five days a week. Week 1Lesson 1Vocabulary, Word Attack Practice, and Grammar PracticePart 1- Vocabulary and Spelling-One of the vocabulary words for this week is "survey". Part 2- Reading Practice: Students will be presented with multi-syllable words to decode. Sample words: beauty, breakfast, against, allowed/aloud, beginning Part 3-Grammar and usage practice: (also known as Daily Oral Language exercises) Students will proofread sentences with spelling, grammar, and usage errors.Week 2Lesson 2Vocabulary, Word Attack Practice, and Grammar PracticePart 1- Vocabulary and Spelling-One of the vocabulary words for this week is "malice". Part 2- Reading Practice: Students will be presented with multi-syllable words to decode. Sample words: laugh, straight, disappear, anything, delicious Part 3-Grammar and usage practice: (also known as Daily Oral Language exercises) Students will proofread sentences with spelling, grammar, and usage errors.Week 3Lesson 3Vocabulary, Word Attack Practice, and Grammar PracticePart 1- Vocabulary and Spelling-One of the vocabulary words for this week is "process". Part 2- Reading Practice: Students will be presented with multi-syllable words to decode. Sample words: raised, something, choice, material, dangerous Part 3-Grammar and usage practice: (also known as Daily Oral Language exercises) Students will proofread sentences with spelling, grammar, and usage errors.
Students will add one vocabulary word to their spoken and written vocabulary each day. Students will practice, and within 2-3 weeks of completing daily video sessions, become masters at decoding new words. Students will practice proofreading text daily to become proficient in editing their creative work.
I am a certified elementary teacher and certified reading therapist. I am offering this class to give students an in-depth study of how our English words are structured, and how to break them down into their sounds in order to make decoding easier. I teach each lesson using the Phono-graphix method which I have been formally trained in by the program authors. I have been using this strategy with my private students for over 20 years and my students have had amazing success with it.
