In this one-time course, I will teach each student step by step how to draw a cartoon avatar/ self-portrait by demonstrating simple basic techniques on my whiteboard as students follow along and complete the steps and techniques on their own paper. These steps and techniques are actually centuries old and used by artists like Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael in figure drawing. They can even be altered to create a variety of cartooning styles. Unlike YouTube instructional videos which usually teach one how to draw just one specific character, this class will teach students basic drawing techniques to cartooning that can be adapted to draw any person into an avatar. Students will learn how to start a drawing with basic shapes first and adding details last.
This has always been one of the favorite art projects of my former students. I have taught several versions of this project over the years and have based the techniques on those of professional artists and animators.

There will be no formal homework, but your child will be encouraged to continue to more avatars once the class is completed. I would love to see through emails via Outschool the finished avatars after class.수업 외 주당 0 - 1 시간

There will be no formal assessment. I will just be visually checking their work between steps. However, after students have finished their drawings after class is over, I would love it if students could email pics of their completed drawings.제공되는 성적
Your student will need a pencil, eraser (preferably white plastic), white paper (copy paper works), and a black pen, colored pencil, or marker. I recommend bringing two sheets of paper in case of mistakes.
