Did you know that vocabulary and background knowledge are two of the most important building blocks of reading comprehension? As a classroom teacher, I always loved creating activities that paired interesting (and valuable!) information with exciting game elements. Students always had so much fun that they didn't even seem to realize how much they were learning. I am so excited to bring these experiences to you on Outschool!

Each class will be filled with intriguing information, rich vocabulary words, and engaging games. Because each class will cover a new topic, content does not build upon previous classes. This makes it easy for learners to join our class at any point! 

The topics we cover in this class will include science, nature, and geography. We may also look at sports trivia and children's media depending on student interest. The first 4 weeks are pre-planned as follows:

Week of September 11: Weird and Surprising Animal Adaptations
Week of September 18: Exploring and Identifying Natural Disasters
Week of September 25: Dinosaur Features
Week of October 2: Continents and Oceans

After the initial 4 weeks, students will vote on other topics they would like to explore.
