주당 1-2시간. Each week, families will receive complete lessons plans and accompanying activities to be used at home between classes. Although these activities are optional, they are highly encouraged!

This is a hands-on, active class intended for students who are ready to take their basic reading skills to the next level! We will meet live twice a week to learn new concepts, practice new skills in real-time, and enjoy the benefits learning with peers while being instructed by a certified teacher.

Each week, families will receive a week's worth of lesson plans and home activities. These activities are thoughtfully designed to reinforce new skills in an exciting way while requiring minimal preparation on the part of parent/support person.

Although some families choose to supplement with outside programs, this class can serve as a comprehensive phonics program.

About the teacher:
I am a dual-licensed teacher (K-12+ Special Education and K-8 General Education) with ten years of experience helping students of all ages and abilities. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have also earned a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Technology and am trained in the Science of Reading through completion of the LETRS program. My career as a public school teacher helped shape me as an educator and allowed me to identify student needs that are not always met by schools. My favorite moments as a teacher often involved working alongside parents to create outside-of-the-box plans to support their student. I have been amazed by what children can accomplish when their unique needs are identified and met.

Students will deepen their understanding of phonics principles such as digraphs and vowel teams, learn new letter combinations, develop skills for decoding longer words and apply spelling rules in decoding and encoding activities.

This teacher is certified in Special Education and uses research-backed methods that meet the needs of all students. Science of Reading-based instruction is "beneficial to all, harmful to none, and crucial for some."
학부모 가이드
The majority of the content will be presented using a doc cam and/or Google Slides. Learners will NOT be required to create any sort of account in order to participate.
사전 요구 사항
This class is intended for students who have completed my Future Readers and Leaders Beginning Phonics class, but is open to learners who are comfortable with beginning phonics skills (CVC and CCVC words, blends, etc.).
수업 자료
Due to the hands-on nature of this class, parents are encouraged to provide their learner with writing materials for each meeting and to print out the weekly home resources.

Participation in hands-on activities can be modified for students who do not have access to these materials. For example, if a student is traveling and does not have their supplies, they can "sky write" instead of using a whiteboard or notepad.
