초보자 라틴어 - 케임브리지 라틴어 과정 1부 - 1부

Description: Upon the completion of this course students will be able to define basic Latin vocabulary of approximately 50-80 words; reproduce paradigms of basic Latin forms; identify the grammatical forms and syntactical functions of Latin words of these nouns, adjectives, and verbs; and translate basic Latin sentences and explain their syntax; begin to compose short sentences in Latin. Each class will introduce a new grammar concept, practice and review previous material, and discuss a cultural theme.

Beyond acquiring the skills to translate Latin, students will also be learning about the culture, literature, and history of the Classical world. Their English vocabulary will improve. They will better understand English grammar and syntax. And they will build a foundation for learning other languages, particularly Romance languages. This class will use Google classroom for assignments, discussions, and other resources. 

MATERIALS: This class will use Google docs, Nearpod.com, Magistrula.com, and Edpuzzle.com to manage assignments. It will also use “Nearpod” during live classes which encourages student engagement and interaction. This will require students to “join” each live class through a Nearpod code so that they can interact with the slides by answering questions, filling in blanks, and drawing.

Below is an outline for this course. Everything listed will be covered during this multi-week course, topics are subject to being moved to different weeks when needed. This course is Part 1 of 5 that completes the entire Cambridge Latin Unit 1 textbook. The next class upon completion of this class is "Beginner's Latin - Part 2: Middle School".


7-WEEK Course Outline 
Week One: Cambridge Latin Course Unit 1 Stage 1
- Latin word order
- Characteristics of the Latin language - cases and declensions
- Function of the Nominative case

Week Two: Cambridge Latin Course Unit 1 Stage 1 
Review and practice Nominative case function, 1st declension.
- Discuss the grammar of verbs: English versus Latin.
- Introduce Sum: present tense.
- Culture: Roman family-

Week Three: Cambridge Latin Course Unit 1 Stage 1 
- Review and practice Nominative case function, 1st declension.
- Latin sentence patterns
- Latin Composition 

Week Four: Cambridge Latin Course Unit 1 Stage 2
- Review week 3 material
- Pompeii daily life: clothing
- Introduce end of course project: Latin comic strip
- Function of the Accusative case

Week Five: Cambridge Latin Course Unit 1 Stage 2
- Review week 4 material
- Introduce 2nd & 3rd declension nouns
- Practice identifying cases, declension families, and gender of noun

Week Six: Cambridge Latin Course Unit 1 Stage 2
- Compose short Latin sentences
- Practice forming cases, declension families, and gender of noun
- Pompeii daily life: food

Week Seven: Cambridge Latin Course Unit 1 Review & end of course project
- Cumulative review of material: reading a passage of Latin together as a class.
- Present & Discuss Projects
