캠브리지 미니무스 라틴어 - 1부

CLASS EXPERIENCE:
The aim of this Latin course is to give young learners a taste of the Latin language by learning about the culture that spoke Latin, the Romans, learning Latin roots, and grammar. Learners will read Latin comics out-loud, with vocabulary help, to practice their Latin pronunciation and then translate the short sentences. 

Each chapter focuses on one beginner's Latin grammar point, which will slowly be built upon with each subsequent chapter. Learners will practice memorizing 10 new Latin vocabulary words per chapter. Since this course is meant to be a slow and FUN way to learn about the Latin language, one chapter will be covered over a period of two weeks. Some exercises and worksheets will be assigned, but learners will be given at least one week notice before the due date. For some activities the worksheet will need to be printed before class. 

This class will use the Outschool Classroom  to manage assignments. It will also use "Nearpod” for live classes which encourages student engagement and interaction. This will require students to “join” each live class through a Nearpod code so that they can interact with the slides by answering questions, filling in blanks, and drawing. Part of the first class includes learning how to join Nearpod and practicing how to use Nearpod. Below is an outline of each week’s class and the topics that will be covered.

- Read Latin: Meet the Family 
- What is a noun?
- Culture: Who is Flavius? 

WEEK TWO: Minimus Chapter 1 - Meet the Family
- Review week 1 vocab
- Read Latin: The Birthday Party
- Identify nouns
- Culture: Perseus and Medusa Myth

WEEK THREE:  Minimus Chapter 2 - Food!
- Review week 2 vocab
- Read Latin: The governor is Coming!
- Latin adjectives & gender
- Culture: Ancient Food!

WEEK FOUR: Minimus Chapter 2 - Food
- Review Week 3 vocab
- Read Latin: Dinner for the Governor
- Identify gender of nouns & adjectives
- Culture: Daedalus & Icarus Myth

WEEK 5:  Chapter 1 & 2 Review
- Fun practice!
- Read Latin.
