The teacher will discuss the story and draw their attention to the different groups who worked on the building of the first US White House and their stories. The emphasis of the class will be on the contributions of enslaved Africans, working conditions, and how some were able to use those skills learned in forced labor to purchase their own freedom later. Students will learn the history of how the U.S. White House was built. Students will then use their creativity & my guidance to create their own White House using lego pieces. Students will be able to answer basic questions answering who, what, when, where and why, as it relates to the story.
