Students will read and discuss the book North! Or Be Eaten. Learners will learn reading strategies like visualizing the text, making connections, learning how to use context cues, predicting, making inferences and summarizing.

I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and 16 years of experience teaching a variety of ages and subjects, including reading and writing. I have homeschool my own four children from preschool through highschool. I have completed the Reading Simplified Academy Training provided by Reading Simplified.com.

Learners will need to complete the reading before each class (8 chapters). During class we will begin filling in the notebook, but that will need to be completed after class. Expect 2-3 hours of homework each week (depending on how quickly they read).

Learners will be encourage to participate in the group discussion and to share their creative writing from the binder, but no formal assessment will be given.
