I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and 16 years of experience teaching a variety of ages and subjects, including reading and writing. I have completed the Reading Simplified Academy Training provided by Reading Simplified.com.

Children succeed faster with reading when they get their eyes on more printed words. The learner will be given a guided reading text to print out. They will need to practice reading the printout aloud to a parent during the week. Along with the guided reading text the parents will need to read aloud a story to their child. An online activity to support the phonics covered in class may also be assigned. This homework will only take about 15 minutes each day.

A phonics and phonological awareness assessment is given in the first two tutoring session to help identify the learner's specific needs. Continual assessment is done as the child read and write during class.
