📚 Welcome to Story Time for Children of Color, a read aloud adventure for listening ears.📚 Theme: Red and yellow, black and white, all are precious in His sight
Reading is colorblind, meant for all colors. ALL ARE WELCOME!

Story Time for Children of Color is a special time for children to hear stories read by a teacher who loves reading to children . . . of all ages and color. But this story time is designed so children of color can see characters of color in books that are read to them.

There's nothing like reading a good book or listening to a good story read to you. Can you imagine seeing someone who looks like you, looking like the kids in your class at school, the team sport you play on? Well, now learners can . . . that is, hear stories and see people who look like them and those around them when they come to "Story Time for Children of Color."

Every parent knows that reading to their child begins at an early age and helps to develop a love of reading, comprehension of the world around them through the stories read to them, develops vocabulary, improves language skills, reading fluency as they begin to read, better writing skills, focus, memory, creativity, imagination, critical thinking, empathy, social skills, and best of all excitement and fun with each story listened to!

Learners who read diversely will more likely be accepting of those that are different from them, not to mention seeing themselves in stories, building their self-esteem.

No need to expand on so many more benefits. Come join us each week for this ongoing, read aloud Story Time for Children of Color today and watch your child relax, enjoy as learners listen and actively participate in this story time adventure. Learners will engage in each story, have social talk time where they discuss characters and tell how they feel about the story, discuss action and events, predict what might happen, chant, rhyme, move, and draw at times.

Reading is colorblind and meant for all colors. All are welcome.

I am a retired public school Principal who has taught and written curriculum for grades K-12 in all subject areas. I have taught learners from grades K-12, Special needs learners, adults, ESL learners from several countries it seems for most of my life. Teaching children is what I love to do! And teaching learners of all ages to read and write is my passion. I personally am an avid reader and have been since I was a little girl hearing my Mom say, "Lights out in there. It's way past your bedtime" as I read with a flashlight under my covers.

I love to work with children in all subject area [reading, writing, science, cooking to name a few] but reading to children is one of my favorite things to do. Seeing the "lights" come on as a learner "gets it," understands the story line, characters and events of the story, shows excitement by their interaction and participation is what I love most and love being a part of that experience.

I am very happy to be teaching on the Outschool platform and look forward to my passion for reading, rubbing off on your learner.
