Description: Prepare for an exhilarating Spring Break packed with brain-boosting adventures in the Critical Thinking and Logic Club! This program is designed to keep young minds engaged and sharp while building critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and enriching vocabulary. Game design fosters systems thinking in students. Students learn how to thinking logically, understand different components and how those components to create a whole- bascially how the real world works. As they engage in playing, modifying, and creating games, they naturally cultivate a mindset that grasps interconnections and ask "what-if" questions about future scenarios. By analyzing interactions within games, students learn to appreciate how individual components influence overall gameplay. They come to realize that even minor alterations can yield substantial effects on the entire system. Systems thinking involves scrutinizing the interdependent elements that constitute a system, forming the essence of this cognitive approach. Through this lens, both students and educators gain insights into effecting positive changes within systems. Engage both hemispheres of the brain with creative challenges, encouraging innovative thinking and problem-solving in unconventional and enjoyable ways. Each day will start with a lesson on a logic or puzzle principle and an example game for them to play together then we will use what we learn in online Game Design using Gimkit Creative to work collaboratively to build their own game. Students will design their own mazes and gameplay. Students will then be able to test out each others Games and work collaboratively to create a full game. Day 1: Intro to logic and Game Design in Gimkit Creative. Students will get to experience different games designed by students like them to spark creativity. Their homework will be to work through a tutorial for using the different elements in game design. Day 2: Intro to Critical thinking and reading between the lines; Practice with Game Design- students will start building and designing their own games. Day 3: Honeycomb path puzzles; Building path puzzles in game design. Lessons on engaging players just enough but not too much. Day 4: Testing out our game builds and fine-tuning Day 5: Collaboration for fitting all the games together and last play together If students are able to complete their collaborative game, the game will be published. Join us for a neuron-engaging, collaboration skills building Spring Break brimming with mind-expanding activities, stimulating challenges, gaming and collaborative learning adventures!
