私のクラスでは、子供たちが学んだことを覚えられるようにアートを活用しています。6 週間のコースに参加して、チューリップやラッパズイセンなどの一般的な春の花を、絵を描いたり、色を塗ったり、簡単なプレゼンテーションをしたりしながら学んでいきましょう。

Did you know there are more than 25,000 daffodils, their sap can be poisonous to other plants, and that you should keep them away from pets (and hungry children!)? How about that beautiful striped tulips came about because of a virus from garden pests, that Holland ships 3 billion tulip bulbs a year, and that tulips originally started in Asia? These and more fun facts await in this smart art class! Students will be beaming with their pride at their ability to identify common spring flowers and tell you fun facts about them, and will learn to draw them in the process! ***** Class will be (roughly) divided as follows: 5 minutes: Make introductions, chat about our weeks and current interests 10 minutes: Engaging slide show with facts about the week's flower. These facts are divided into "fast facts," i.e., basic information about the flower and "fun facts," i.e., trivia and surprising facts kids will love to share. 15 minutes: Directed drawing project illustrating how to sketch each flower in simple steps. Time for coloring and showing off artwork will always be included, also!

Students will always need paper, a pencil, and coloring supplies! These can be whatever your learner desires, e.g., oil pastel, watercolor or regular paint, brush markers, crayons, etc. Occasionally I may suggest specific supplies for specific projects. In that case, I will send a message with ample notice.

I will sometimes take inspiration from one of my favorite flower drawing books: "How to Draw Flowers," by Barbara Soloff Levy. Students are welcome to have this book handy but it is absolutely not necessary.
