Through this course, we will break down the anatomy of the horse. We will cover all the bodily systems in an in-depth manner. This is not a college level series by any mean, but students will learn the terminology and location of different parts, and most importantly the functions they serve. Pathology relating to each part of the body will also be expounded on. We will also talk about some optional healing modalities (equine massage therapy, etc.) but this is solely from an informative standpoint. This is not medical advice or training. Class will meet once a week for ten weeks, comprised of slides, "check-in" times, and open discussion. This is a great course for those interested in going into the veterinarian field someday, but the knowledge isn't limited to that application. The material covered also applies to the everyday horse enthusiast, as learning about equine anatomy makes us better stewards of our horses. I keep a "relaxed" policy on all my classes, I find that some people in the overall horse community can take things too seriously and it destroys all the fun and puts unnecessary pressure on students. Week 1: External Anatomy Week 2: Skeletal Anatomy Week 3: Muscle Anatomy Week 4: Teeth, Eyes, and Hooves Anatomy Week 5: Digestive System Week 6: Cardiovascular System Week 7: Reproductive/Urinary Systems Week 8: Nervous/Respiratory Systems Week 9: Endocrine System Week 10: Lymphatic System I will always be available if a student needs help or has questions outside of class and I encourage discussion. This is an interactive class at its core, but with a relaxed approached. And while education is the primary goal, I also strive to make the experience enjoyable. Class will be comprised of slides, diagrams, videos, and conversation. I will also have "check-ins" throughout the class for students to name different body parts, functions, medical complications, and treatments as we learn them. No prior knowledge required, but recommended. Some concepts might be slightly difficult for those being introduced to equine anatomy.
学習到達目標
My goal is that students would be able to bridge the gap from elementary knowledge to college-level knowledge regarding equine anatomy. This is more advanced than basics, but not so complicated as what is taught in veterinarian school. We will also learn about the different medical modalities in horse care as we touch on each body area, from farrier work to equine dentistry to equine chiropractic. I like to take a holistic approach to this subject, combining anatomy, hippology, and pathology.

Professional discussion of equine reproductive anatomy and function is involved. If your student is not comfortable with this topic they do not have to attend that week. I try to make the subject as light and clinical as possible. I do give a heads up each week for what we cover the next week.
This class does not teach students how to treat horses or qualify as medical training.
Canva is used for the slide presentation. No account creation necessary.
I have a few general rules that I like to abide by so our classes run smoothly:
1. Avoid interrupting the teacher/other students. I know internet lag can cause overlap, so try to make sure the other person is done talking first to help mitigate this. Raising your hand if you have a question or comment also helps keep things orderly and gives everyone a chance to talk.
2. Participate in class in a quiet room, if possible. If there is background noise, please mute yourself unless you are speaking.
3. Per Outschool policy, parents must stay off camera and not interact with the class (this includes posing as the child in the chat and messaging functions, telling the child what to say or do, challenging/asking/interacting with the teacher). Of course, if your student is having technical difficulties you can help them. I am more than happy to interact with parents outside of class time via Outschool’s private messaging system.
4. Do not distract the class by abusing drawing tools in Zoom.
5. Use the chat box for things relevant to class. I check it every time that it is used and if it is for goofing off it takes away time from other students who are paying attention.
6. Per Outschool policy, all students must turn on their cameras so I can confirm their identity for safety reasons. Once I have confirmed this, I have no problem with them preferring to keep the camera off.
7. If you are having internet connectivity issues, please let me know.
8. If the student will be absent for a class, please let me know ahead of time if possible so I can adjust the class accordingly.
9. Students that are misbehaving get two warnings, then the third offense will result in the child being put in the Zoom waiting room until the class has concluded. No refunds will be given if this has occurred.
For any inquiries/comments regarding classes, please message me privately so I can do my best to address your needs. Thanks!
