Beginner Level
Experience: 1). You will gain a first hand view of how and where to plant a young tree for food, and long term self sufficiency. 2). You will join me via video, as I show by example how you can do it. We will discuss this video during our class time. 2). We will specifically show you how to plant a Chestnut tree and go over the reasons why a Chestnut tree is a good choice for food, long term use, and health. 3). You will see the types of tools that you can use to plant your tree, and suggestions about what can be set up to keep your plant safe, and predator free. Class Structure/Teaching Style: 1). The class is relaxed and goes at the pace of our learners and is at a beginners level. 2). This course can be taught in a group or individually 1:1 per request. 3). My teaching style is one of direct interaction, and dialogue, to ensure students are engaged. I will also have video clips to demonstrate the skills needed to complete the skills. 4). I will also provide slides for specific details that the students can follow. Learning Goals/Expectations/Topics Covered: 1). Understanding what tree to select for your growing/hardiness zone. 2). Understanding the basic tools required to start and plant your own food tree. 3). Understand the importance of healthy soil and ways to cultivate it, if not at its best when starting. 4). Learning how gardening and getting your hands in the dirt can promote health and long term wellness. 5). Learning how to use simple garden tools, and more advanced ones with the supervision of a parent or guardian when needed. 6). Learning how to care for your tree after planting and what precautions to take to secure your tree, to avoid animal interference or pressure. 7). Beginner Level: However, all levels of gardening skills are welcome, as additional skills and insight are given, that even advanced learners can grow from. Homework: 1). Homework and additional tasks post class time are based on individual student and parent preference. However, it is encouraged, as the best learning comes from trying out the skills you have learned yourself. Grading/Assessment: 1). Grades and assessments shall be determined by parental choice and discretion. Grades if given, are to be distributed by the parent, based on their observation of student skills, since this is specific to family completion and material availability. However, guidance can be given upon parental request. Note: The main goal of this course is not to provide a final grade, but to impart a love of learning and a lifelong skill. Parental Guidance: 1). Parental guidance and supervision, must be given whenever necessary, if ever a skill or task requires the use of materials or tools, that must be used with adult permission and observation. This will ensure the safety at all times of our students. As a mom there will never be profane, graphic language or inappropriate media used, as I only provide what I would for my own children and families.

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a Pediatrician, Homeschool mom, and Homesteader, I have a unique combination of skills that I have developed and continue to grow over time, in seeing patients, and caring for my own children. This is a combination of skills and experiences for over 10+ years.
Because of this I teach my own children, and others these simple skills regularly, that we all need to know to equip us in life and have been doing so for several years, via video and in person.
As a Homesteader, I am always looking to sharpen my knowledge in sustainability, and I have a passion to share the skills I have gained with other families, that they may also learn to thrive, and live longer and healthier lives.
This means I am continually growing in my own crafts, and skills through self education, hands on experience, and growth on my personal homestead through my own life experiences.
