Week 1Lesson 1Genre- Introduction to The Book of Three and the high fantasy genre. - After watching the video, students will read chapters 1-5 of The Book of Three and then complete the Google Form posted in the classroom.Week 2Lesson 2Character Traits-Learn about physical and personality traits - Identify character traits of characters in The Book of Three - After watching the video, students will read chapters 6-10 of The Book of Three and then complete the Google Form posted in the classroom.Week 3Lesson 3Similes and Metaphors- Learn to identify similes and metaphors - After watching the video, students will read chapters 11-15 of The Book of Three and then complete the Google Form posted in the classroom.Week 4Lesson 4Compare and Contrast-Learn how to compare and contrast using a Venn diagram and a tree chart -Compare and contrast characters from The Book of Three - After watching the video, students will read chapters 16-19 of The Book of Three and then complete the Google Form posted in the classroom.Week 5Lesson 5Project WeekStudents will complete a project based on The Book of Three
Students will improve their ability to read critically and to write about the things they read. They will also improve their writing skills as they answer questions about the reading.
Homework Offered
Students will be assigned to read about 50 pages each week. They will then respond to one discussion question posted in the classroom and complete one worksheet. The worksheet should take students approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. The worksheet will be an editable PDF, so it can be typed or printed and handwritten.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

The Book of Three is high fantasy, which contains strong themes of good and evil. The bad guys in the book are evil and can be a little scary for more sensitive learners.
