This course offers individualized phonics instruction to support students who are learning to read. Great for new or emerging readers, students with dyslexia, or students who have a learning disability in reading.

Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
  • Students will learn and practice skills such as blending, segmenting, and isolating sounds in words through movement and games.
As a an Educational Diagnostician, I am well versed in the area of phonological and phonemic awareness and the impact on reading outcomes for all students. While I am not a certified Dyslexia Therapist, I am trained in evaluating for the disability and knowledgeable on interventions needed to support students- one of which is direct instruction in phonics. I have spent the majority of my career teaching students with a learning disability how to read.
Students will need 5 small objects to manipulate when we are segmenting and substituting sounds in a word. This could be anything your child has that is engaging but not too distracting. I often use 5 legos that are different colors, mini squishable figures, or crayons.
In class, we will use google slides, seesaw, and Kahoot.
