In this class, students will learn about plant and animal cells, along with the following information (in chronological order of each week) : 1. What are cells and what do they do? What is a prokaryotic cell vs. eukaryotic cell? 2. What are the main parts to the cell and what do they do? 3. What are plant cells and what are unique to them? 4. What are animal cells and what are unique to them? Each week, students will follow the following lesson format for content: Video- students will watch a prerecorded video and complete a notetaker for their records while they watch the video. Answer keys will be provided every Friday. Practice Activity- Students will receive an activity to complete each week, including labeling graphs, reading passages, and more. Daily Questions- Students will receive daily questions (5 a week) to answer in the classroom for a discussion. Students will receive feedback to their answers each week Review Games- Students will receive weekly games from breakoutedu.com to practice their content. Subscriptions are not required to play and weekly links will be provided in the classroom each week by Friday of that week. A final Kahoot review will be provided in the final week for review. Assessment- Students will receive a final assessment in the final week to review content learned from the course to demonstrate mastery. Project- Students will be given of one of three projects to complete to demonstrate mastery of content (bake and decorate a cell cake, create a virtual presentation using Prezi or another presentation sharing site of choice, or a written essay to answer about plant and animal cells). These will be due by the final Friday of the last week.

Students will learn about plant and animal cells, and the organelle's main jobs inside of the cell. Students will learn the differences between plants and animal cells and the purpose of the adaptations of the organelles for their basic needs.

Material covered will discuss plant and animal cells and organelle parts and discuss how these adaptations are made in reference to survival. No discussion of evolution will take place in this class as it is not relevant to the topic.

Students will be provided hand-outs for notes to keep for their possession each week, along with printable resources for activities. Students will also need a pencil to complete activities. Students may also need cake ingredients if they choose to create a cake for their final project. (can be scratch made or from box- whatever the preference is for the student to eat afterwards)

I am a elementary and middle school science teacher having taught elementary science for 2 years, and have taught middle school science for 8 years from 6-8th grade. I am licensed as a science teacher from 6-12 grade, with a Masters in Science Education. I like making learning relate to real world experiences so students can connect to material easier than standard memorization. I review in a flow pattern that starts with basic information and expands into complex information to assist students with retention.
