Los padres como profesores: cómo facilitar una educación verdaderamente autodirigida

The benefits of Self-Directed Education are huge, but facilitating it well can be very challenging. Aaron is a seasoned facilitator of Self-Directed Education, and a sought-after trainer of school and parent educators. He works with teachers and parents around the world to build a deep understanding of the principles that support self-directed learning, and a comfort with acting on them consistently. 

This is an online version of workshops Aaron runs at conferences, in schools, and at learning centers. It is aimed at parents with K-12 kids (and learning center facilitators) so when enrolling enter your own name rather than your child's and select 'Age 18'.

In the workshop, we will explore the concept and importance of Self-Directed Education, and what it looks like at different ages and in different settings. What does it mean to facilitate self-directed learning? What is the role of the facilitator relative to the role of the learner? How do you deal with goals you have for the learner, vs. the goals they have for themselves? How do you deal with the "baggage" that often comes with being both a parent and an educator? How do you facilitate learning in areas you are not an expert in yourself?

In addition to discussing general concepts, we will leverage the experience of everyone attending to examine instances of success and instances of failure, and use those specifics to increase our understanding and improve our own practice.
