In the "Paragraph Power-Up: Why a Unicorn Should Be Allowed at School" class, students will learn how to write well-structured paragraphs by focusing on key components like topic sentences, supporting details, and concluding statements. We’ll cover how to craft complex sentences and add thoughtful supporting details to extend their ideas. The class will be a mix of explicit teaching, where students will learn paragraph structure through slides, and brainstorming sessions where we work together to build strong paragraphs. Learners will use graphic organizers like Coggle to organize their ideas, and we’ll work collaboratively through Zoom to write and refine their paragraphs. Students will interact through discussions, shared brainstorming, and receive feedback to help strengthen their writing. By the end, they’ll be confident in constructing detailed and organized paragraphs!

Hi! My name is Ren, and I’m an Ontario-trained elementary teacher with an additional qualification in Intermediate Health and Physical Education. I also hold a Bachelor's degree in Sociology. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching in a variety of settings, from the bustling city of London, England, to vibrant Toronto, Ontario, and scenic New Zealand. On Outschool, I offer a range of interactive classes that focus on reading, writing, science, social studies, and more! I believe in engaging students through creative activities, encouraging critical thinking, and building their confidence in a collaborative, safe learning space.
When I’m not teaching, you can find me enjoying outdoor adventures, reading, playing board games, spending time with family and friends, or trying out new recipes. I love bringing a sense of curiosity and fun into my classroom to inspire students to explore new ideas and interests!
I hope to learn with you soon!
