Experiencia de clase

In this class, learners will learn basic principles of music such as pitch and rhythm. Learners will be able to identify symbols such as the treble clef and bass clef signs. We will also learn musical directives like "forte" and "piano." We will listen to clips of famous compositions and practice our listening skills; listening for high, low, fast, and slow sounds.
Each class will be broken into sections. The first section will be instructional, introducing a new concept such as basic rhythm patterns or "forte vs. piano" using slides, video clips, and teacher modeling. The second section will put this new concept into practice, using simple songs or clapping games. The third section will be a listening activity in which learners will listen to clips of classic songs and practice identifying the concepts they previously learned. The final section will be a brief overview of a famous composer, including fast facts and a printable coloring page which students can color together while listening to one of that artist's compositions.
Each week's lesson topic and composer studied will be as follows:
Week 1: What is pitch? (Mozart)
Week 2: Basic rhythms (Haydn)
Week 3: Piano & Forte (Beethoven)
Week 4: Musical Speeds (Clementi)
