Nivel Intermediate
During this five week debate course students will build upon the skills they learned in our introductory curriculum to enhance their ability to think critically, argue effectively, take notes, and thoughtfully engage with others. This class should be taken by people who have taken one of our five course programs previously, or students with prior debate experience. It includes a unique set of lesson plans that will teach unique ways to approach arguments and debate. Each class will include both a short lecture followed by an activity to help students learn the skill being taught during the lecture portion of class. Students will learn how about opportunity costs, procedural argumentation, disadvantages, and critical philosophy. These lectures are designed to help students learn how to better listen to their opponents, develop critical thinking skills, and discern the difference between reliable and unreliable sources for evidence. By the end of the week students will have developed their public speaking skills, logical reasoning, as well as their ability to listen to and understand others. A breakdown of the course is as follows...
