Step back in time and reshape Ancient Egypt through role-playing and creative storytelling in this interactive TTRPG class! Over three weeks, students will become key figures in Egyptian history, making critical decisions that could change the world as we know it. From building alternate structures to navigating political intrigue, students will rewrite history while learning about ancient culture, architecture, and society. Think of this as historical fiction.

Class Experience
In this fully immersive role-playing course, students will engage in a tabletop RPG where they explore, create, and decide the fate of Ancient Egypt. The class focuses on collaborative storytelling, strategic decision-making, and deep historical engagement. Students will assume roles like architects, pharaohs, and advisors, with each session pushing them to tackle real-world dilemmas through a mix of creativity and historical insight.

How it Works: Each child will be given the option for several different characters they can role play. Each will have different stats and abilities giving them a certain strength in their adventure. Children can then imagine however they want them to look and even change their personality as they wish! Throughout the game students will make decisions and roll the dice to find out the outcome. That might be persuading a priest to travel with them or getting the architects to rethink their pyramid designs. As stated below, there will be no combat as it can be time consuming and not what will be focused on. While students will carve their own adventure, it'll be lead in a certain direction and completely going off the beaten path won't be an option ("Hey, let's take a boat across the Mediterranean Sea to see Greece!" won't be an option)

What Will Be Taught:

Ancient Egyptian history, culture, and architecture.
Decision-making and strategic thinking in historical contexts.
Creative storytelling and teamwork in a TTRPG environment.

Topics Covered:
Reimagining pyramid designs and other architectural innovations.
The balance of power and politics in ancient societies.
Economic, religious, and social challenges faced by Ancient Egypt.

Class Structure:
Each session will be a TTRPG campaign where students role-play characters and make decisions that will directly influence the storyline:

Week 1: Introduction to the campaign and character creation. Students explore their roles and begin the first scenario involving design challenges and leadership decisions.
Week 2: The storyline intensifies with crises and opportunities, requiring students to navigate complex social, political, and architectural dilemmas.
Week 3: The grand finale where students present their alternate version of Egyptian history based on the outcomes of their choices and discuss how history might have changed.

Teaching Style:
This class is fully interactive, with a focus on role-playing, storytelling, and collaborative problem-solving. As the DM, I will guide students through scenarios while allowing them the freedom to shape the world and outcomes. My teaching style is adaptive, fostering creativity while grounding the experience in historical facts and critical thinking.

Learner Interaction:
Students will be engaged continuously throughout the class:

Role-Playing: Each student will take on a character and interact with the world through dialogue, decision-making, and exploration.
Group Discussions: Frequent check-ins and debriefs to discuss strategy, decisions, and their potential impact.
Collaborative Storytelling: The narrative will evolve based on student choices, leading to unique historical outcomes.
Non-Combative: This is a no combat type of TTRPG. While combat is fun, it is not necessary for what we are doing.
Health: Each character will have a certain health points which they can lose through falling down into pits, getting in the way of a trap. Although death is not likely for ones characters it IS possible. If it happens, don't be upset and we will discuss having you play another character and join the group. The chance of failure gives the child reason to really think out all options and possibilities.
Teamwork: This is a teamwork based event and children are encouraged to work together for the best of the group. Children who refuse to work together or are deliberately antagonistic may be asked to leave the group at anytime.

By the end of the course, students will have reimagined history, gained deeper insights into Ancient Egypt, and experienced the excitement of collaborative storytelling. The adventure awaits!

Orientación para padres
While this course focuses on creativity, history, and strategic decision-making, it may include some scenarios that involve challenges, dilemmas, or mild tension. For instance, students may encounter situations like managing resources during difficult times or navigating conflicts that could have existed in ancient societies. These elements are designed to be engaging and thought-provoking rather than scary, but there may be moments of suspense or tension in the role-playing. No media content requiring official ratings is used in this course, and all scenarios are created in-house. There are no third-party tools requiring accounts or permissions. Overall, the class is suitable for learners seeking adventure and creativity, but parents should be aware that some situations may involve light suspense.
