This course is designed to focus on the properties and application of common geometric figures in two and three dimensions. It includes definitions, transformations, rotations, reflections, and translations, congruence, angles, parallel and perpendicular lines, geometric constructions, as well as triangle proofs. Plus, inductive and deductive thinking skills used in problem solving situations, as well as applications to the real world. Students who complete Geometry A - Part 1 should go on to Geometry A - Part 2 to finish the course. Week 1 - Geometric Definitions Week 2 - Rotations, Reflections, and Translations Week 3 - Congruence Week 4 - Algebraic Definitions Week 5 - Prove Geometric Theorems Week 6 - Prove Algebraically Week 7 - Prove Algebraically Week 8- Prove Theorems about Triangles Week 9 - Proofs of Congruent Triangles Week 10 - Inscribed & Circumscribed Circles Week 11 - Proofs o Congruent Triangles Week 12 - Congruent Parts of Congruent Figures Week 13 - Rigid Motion of Polygons Week 14 - Midpoint Theorems Week 15 - Using Midpoint to Sole Problems Week 16 - Dilations and Similarity Week 17 -Prove Theorems Using Similarity Week 18 - Solving Real Life Situations Using Similarity Requirements: Students should expect to have homework almost every day/night in this class. It is strongly recommended that students set aside at least 20 minutes per day for doing homework. Homework will be graded for understanding each week. Homework is 10% of overall grade. Quizzes and tests make up the majority of a students’ course grade. But remember, if you aren’t practicing the math we are learning by doing your homework and class work on a regular basis, your scores on these quizzes/tests will more than likely be lower than they would be if you did do your homework every day. Quizzes are 25% and Tests are 60%of overall grade. Other possible grade includes attendance and participation. Attendance/participation is worth 5% of overall grade. If you ever feel you need more help than what you are receiving during our regularly scheduled classroom time, you should contact me and make arrangements to get extra help through e-mail or scheduling another time. I am very willing to help you. You just need to ask! Grading Scale Description A 90-100% Exceeds Expectations; Independent learner; superior work; all work completed on time at an exceptional level of quality and effort; B 80-89% Meets Expectations; Semi-independent learner; above average work; all work completed on time; did quality work with a few flaws; C 70-79% Passing but does not meet some standards; Dependent learner; average work; most completed on time showing average effort; D 60-69% Passing but only meets minimum standards; Dependent learner; average work; most completed late showing below average effort; F <60% Failing, does not meet minimum standards; Failure; does not meet standards or expectations.

I am offering this series of classes because I have taught this subject before many times. I get very excited to see students that want to find out new things as well as use what they have already learned in math. I believe that all students can learn math if given different approaches. Everyone does not learn the same way so I offer a variety of methods. Please see for yourself.
