Homework will be assigned 3-4 times a week. Students will receive and turn in their assignments via Google Classroom. Students will need to scan or take pictures of their work and upload them to turn it in. The goal is for most assignments to take 30-45 minutes; some assignments, such as tests, will take longer.Proyectos

Dive into the fascinating world of geometry and unlock the mysteries of shapes, angles, and spatial relationships with our online class tailored specifically for high school homeschoolers. Geometry, often considered the cornerstone of mathematical reasoning, plays a crucial role in various fields, from architecture and engineering to art and design. In this dynamic and interactive course, students will embark on a journey of discovery, exploring fundamental geometric concepts and their real-world applications. After completing this year-long high school Geometry class, students will have earned a high school math credit. Classes will be on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. ***Students must have completed Algebra 1 before taking this course. TEXT: Students will receive printable note pages and homework sheets. It is important they come to class with the printed notes and keep all their papers organized in a 3-ring binder. Classes will consist of lectures, examples, practice, and exploration. Students will be given an example or exploration activity, then will work with the instructor to understand problems then they will solve problems on their own. We will use various online activities (Desmos, Google Slides, Delta Math, etc.) to explore many concepts so that students can have a hands-on experience before completing homework assignments. Tests will be done outside of class and will be open book/open notes. This class will meet twice a week, involving students interacting with the teacher and completing weekly assignments/assessments and several projects throughout the course. I have taught homeschooled students since 2008 and am very accommodating with student needs; parents are welcome to contact me about any issues or concerns. ***NOTE: students should attend the online meeting on a laptop or desktop computer. Mobile devices are not conducive to the online activities included in this course.*** ***NOTE: Completing assignments is necessary to succeed in this class. *** ***NOTE: We will use Google Classroom to keep assignments organized*** Topics: --Introduction to Euclidean Geometry: Explore the foundational principles of Euclidean geometry, including points, lines, angles, and planes. --Geometric Constructions: Learn how to construct basic geometric figures using a compass and straightedge, and discover the underlying principles of construction. --Triangles and Polygons: Investigate the properties of triangles, quadrilaterals, and other polygons, including classifications, congruence, and similarity. --Circles and Circular Geometry: Delve into the properties of circles, arcs, and sectors, and explore the relationships between chords, tangents, and secants. --Transformations and Symmetry: Study geometric transformations, such as translations, rotations, reflections, and dilations, and explore the concept of symmetry in geometric figures. --Measurement and Trigonometry: Learn how to measure angles, lengths, and areas using geometric formulas and trigonometric ratios, and apply them to solve real-world problems. --Three-Dimensional Geometry: Extend your understanding of geometry into three dimensions, exploring the properties of prisms, pyramids, cylinders, cones, and spheres. --Coordinate Geometry: Integrate algebraic concepts with geometric reasoning, studying the relationship between geometric figures and coordinate systems. --Geometric Proofs: Master the art of geometric proof, learning to use deductive reasoning and logical arguments to prove geometric theorems and conjectures. --Applications of Geometry: Apply your geometric knowledge to solve practical problems in various fields, including architecture, engineering, art, and design. Sessions are available on Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays with 2 different start dates. - Monday/Wednesday Dates: -- Monday, August 19 - Wednesday, May 21 - Tuesday/Thursday Dates: -- Tuesday, September 10 - Thursday, June 12 There will be no class on the following days: - Labor Day - October 14, 15 - Veteran's Day - Thanksgiving week - Dec 16 - Jan 5 - Jan 20, 21 - March March 17-20 - April 21, 22 - Memorial Day

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Maestría en Educación desde Strayer University
I majored in engineering before acquiring my bachelor’s of science in Computer Science (lots of math classes!) and later earned a Master’s Degree in Education. I have 14+ years of teaching many subjects and ages; however, I have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry for high school students for the past 9 years. I love teaching geometry and creating supplement assignments and activities to further understanding.
