Week 1: Rules of Divisibility- This class will be split up into introduction, teacher instruction, guided practice, and individual practice. At the beginning of class, we will introduce ourselves to each other and the teacher will gauge the students' prior knowledge about the topic. For teacher instruction, the teacher will introduce the rules of divisibility. Students will be asked to write them down. For guided practice, students will do sample problems step by step with the teacher to practice using each of the rules. For the individual practice, students will be asked to do a few problems on their own. The teacher will go over the answers with the students to check for understanding.

Week 2: Rules of Divisibility Practice- This class will be split up into review, guided practice, and individual practice. This class will start with reviewing each of the rules of divisibility. For guided practice, the students will continue to work on practice problems. The teacher will go over the answers together to check the students' understanding. The teacher will then teach the students to how to play the Divisibility Game. The students will then play the game together to practice using the rules of divisibility.

Week 3:Factor Trees and Prime Factorization- This class will be split up into review, teacher instruction, guided practice, and individual practice. This class will start with reviewing the rules of divisibility and doing a few review practice problems. For teacher instruction, the teacher will define what a factor, composite number, prime number, factor tree, and prime factorization is. The teacher will show students how to use a factor tree to find the prime factorization of a number. For guided practice, students will work on practice problems step by step with the teacher. Once the students are able to solve the problems with the teacher guidance, students will work on a few problems on their own for individual practice. Teacher will check the students answers for accuracy.

Week 4: Greatest Common Factor- This class will be split up into review, teacher instruction, guided practice, and individual practice. This class will start with reviewing how to do a factor tree to find the prime factorization of a number by doing a few practice problems. For teacher instruction, the teacher will go over the terms factor, common factor, and greatest common factor (GCF). The teacher will explain how to find the greatest common factor by listing out all the factors. For guided practice, the students will work on practice problems step by step with the teacher. Once the students feel comfortable with finding the GCF with the guidance of the teacher, they will work on some problems on their own for individual practice. The teacher will go over the students answers to check their understanding.

Week 5: Greatest Common Factor with Factor Trees- This class will be split up into review, teacher instruction, guided practice, and individual practice. This class will start with reviewing how to find the Greatest Common Factor by listing the factors. The students will do a few review problems to practice solving for the GCF in this way. For the teacher instruction, the teacher will show the students an alternative way to solve for GCF by using factor trees and prime factorization. For guided practice, the students will work on these types of problems with the teacher step by step. For individual practice, the students will be asked to do a few problems on their own. The teacher will check the students' answers as they finish to check for understanding.

Week 6: Least Common Multiple- This class will be split up into review, teacher instruction, guided practice, and individual practice. This class will start with reviewing how to find the Greatest Common Factor by using factor trees and prime factorization. For teacher instruction, the teacher will go over the terms of multiple, common multiple, and Least Common Multiple (LCM).The teacher will explain how to find the least common multiple by listing out all the multiples. For guided practice, the students will work on practice problems step by step with the teacher. Once the students feel comfortable with finding the LCM with the guidance of the teacher, they will work on some problems on their own for individual practice. The teacher will go over the students answers to check their understanding.

Week 7: Least Common Multiple with Factor Trees- This class will be split up into review, teacher instruction, guided practice, and individual practice. This class will start with reviewing how to find the Least Common Multiple by listing the multiples. The students will do a few review problems to practice solving for the LCM in this way. For the teacher instruction, the teacher will show the students an alternative way to solve for LCM by using factor trees and prime factorization. For guided practice, the students will work on these types of problems with the teacher step by step. For individual practice, the students will be asked to do a few problems on their own. The teacher will check the students' answers as they finish to check for understanding.

Week 8: Factor it out- This class will be a final review day to go over all the things the students have learned in this class. The students will play a few rounds of the Divisibility Game to review the rules of divisibility. The students will then play a game to find the GCF and LCM using whatever method they want (either by listing or factor trees) to find the answer as quickly as possible. The student to solve the answer correctly the fastest will earn a point.

I have taught sixth grade math for four years. I am passionate about helping students learn new math skills while making it fun and engaging. As a teacher, I make sure to create standard-based lessons that help students to learn the curriculum while making it fun to learn!

Hello! My name is Olivia Schuster and I am so excited to get to teach you! I taught at a private school for five years: one year in second grade and four years in sixth grade. While teaching sixth grade, I helped pilot and implement a new Common Core curriculum, as well as introduce, teach, and lead the Science Fair for the entire sixth grade. I also created science labs and math activities to help enhance curriculum and meet the standards. I also taught English to Chinese student online for a little over a year, so I am very familiar with teaching students through an video chat format.

Due to a recent move, I am now a stay-at-home mom to my two wonderful daughters, age 3 and age 1. Instead of being just a stay-at-home mom, I like to call myself a stay-at-home teacher. I love teaching and am excited to teach students (other than my own kids) again!

My desire as a teacher is to create a learning environment where students can learn through their own discovery. Through engaging and creative standard based lesson plans I want to instill in my students a passion for learning. My expertise and experience enables me to reach each student at their own level and promote the idea of being a life-long learner while having fun. I am excited to meet you and to teach you very soon!
