La oscura historia de Charles Dickens

Through engaging discussions, multimedia resources like videos, and interactive activities students will explore the complexities of Dicken's world and the societal issues he highlighted in his writings.
What Will Be Taught: 
The life and times of Charles Dickens focusing on his life while working at a blacking factory while his father was imprisoned.
Students will learn about the grim realities of Victorian London, including the disease and harsh life of the poor.
The course will cover how Dickens used his writing to help things change and address child labor and the plight of the poor.
We will be looking at a short video on the life and works of Dicken's and analyze clips from film adaptations of Dicken's novels. We do allow time for all students to learn, and interact. This class does discuss some dark themes, like poverty, abuse, and disease. 
Students will work to analyze excerpts from Dickens's works and identify dark themes. 
Learner Interaction:
In group discussions, students will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and engage in discussions with their peers.  Interactive activities and analysis exercises to encourage collaboration and deeper understanding. There is also a consistent Q&A Session where students can ask questions and seek clarification on any topics. 
This course was created to show students that life can sometimes be the best canvas for literature. It aims to provide a comprehensive exploration of the truth behind Dickens's life and work, helping students understand the historical context and the lasting impact of his writings.
