Do you have a big imagination? Do you love to read? Have your created fun characters that you have made up for fun? Have you started a story, but you're having trouble creating an ending? Well, I believe you have found the right class! In this ongoing class, we will take multiple approaches to creating a story that you can call your very own. The lessons will be driven by research based methods to get your imagination rolling and creating a road map to complete a very clear story. The content of this class will cover the basics of story structure, character development, and fundamental terminology related to literature and creative writing. Each class will begin with a clearly stated essential question. Then, we will have direct instruction that may be accompanied by sample writing or a quick video to capture the dramatic essence of a concept. After the lesson, we will get an opportunity to apply our skills by practicing together. Lastly, we will get a chance to share our work with the class. Sharing our work is a main feature of the class because it is soooo helpful to get immediate and direct feedback for our creative endeavors.
