This "Soaring High: Transition for Neurodiverse Learners" OutSchool class is specifically designed for students with ASD, ADHD, and other health disabilities. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by students with autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and other learning differences, the class incorporates several strategies to support their diverse learning needs and eliminate any self-doubt or uncertainty about their future. The class will cover essential life skills for young adults with disabilities, such as independent living skills, social communication skills, and self-advocacy skills for students with special needs. It will also explore career exploration pathways for people with disabilities, including interest inventories, job shadowing opportunities for high school students, resume writing tips for students with disabilities, and interview skills training for people with disabilities. Additionally, the class will provide information on post-secondary options for students with disabilities, including college options for students with disabilities, vocational training programs, and supported employment programs for adults with disabilities.
