Positive feedback goes such a long way with young artists'! After class, I encourage all learners to post a picture in our classroom of their final work of art! This gives all of the learners and myself the opportunity to comment on each piece in hopes to connect and build a deeper sense of community. I know these positive interactions will help power them with more confidence into the next project they create!Experiencia de clase
In this class we will learn about the amazing artist Yayoi Kusama. We will look at some of her amazing art, and talk about her unique style and her very fascinating life! For this art project we will be creating a background unique to Kusama called an "infinity net". Then we will create different sized mushrooms to attach to our background with her 1995 painting titled "Mushrooms" as our inspiration! *In my classes I love to dedicate the first few minutes to visiting as a class. If your learner is more comfortable using the chat box, then that’s perfect too! We will use both! I like how this sets the tone for our time together, helping those that might be a little nervous or new to virtual learning. It helps create that supportive and welcoming space to create. I can not wait to see what each artist creates! ***If you do not see a time that fits your schedule, please request a time that could work for you and I will do my best to list one that works for you!**

1. Colorful background paper of any color (not too big since infinity nets take time). I love using a black canvas! 2. Metallic Sharpie to create the infinity net 3. Two-three pieces of watercolor paper for our mushrooms 4. Pencil and eraser 5. Black sharpie 6. Paint or watercolors 7. Paint pens or colorful markers for the details on the mushrooms 8. Scissors 9. Glue

Hello there! My name is Kristi! I am a homeschool teacher and an art teacher in Texas! I have 2 children that are in 11th & 7th grade this next year! I absolutely love being involved in my kids education!
I am the owner of Wolf Circus Art Studio and Evolve Volleyball Club. I teach art classes for Pre-K to 6th grade, host art parties, teach macrame, and make pottery. I have been teaching art lessons for over 10 years and I love connecting with children through art! I have experience teaching lessons in a private art studio setting as well as summer camps and online.
I also am the Art & Crafts Director for a non-profit called Salute the Kids. Salute the Kids is a charity that supports military children and families through camping adventures. I create and teach all of the arts and crafts projects and host a family art night at camp. Working with military children is such a gift.
I am so excited to be here on Outschool with the opportunity to teach, connect, and create some really cool art with your artist! I most certainly know I will learn and be inspired by them as well!
When I am not teaching you can find me hanging out with my family, making pottery, playing volleyball, taking care of my cacti, or trying to talk my husband into rescuing another Chihuahua. You can never have too many Chihuahuas ;) I have 5 now!
