This ongoing tutoring class will introduce methods and materials, along with access to a dedicated website created specifically for AP Art History by the instructor that will guide students through the AP Art History course designed by The College Board. Continuous instruction begins with Global Prehistory and ends with artworks from the Contemporary Period. Depending on the need and number of sessions, students will be able to study art from past to present, covering all 250 artworks required by The College Board, or request specific topics, time periods, and artworks to be covered in depth. The class is lecture and discussion-based with visuals and downloadable handouts. The teaching style is casual and conversational, connecting artworks to "why" they were created, not just who and how. Students will have time to interact with the instructor through questions, discussions, and small projects. The class is specifically for 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students taking an AP Art History class and needing more one-on-one time to understand the 250 images required by The College Board.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will develop an understanding of how to view and analyze artworks, discuss artworks and make global connections to numerous cultures, and understand the content, context, function, process, and themes in art. Students will learn how to analyze art they have never seen before and will be more successful with the AP exam given by The College Board in May.
