In this class we will work with the digraphs "ch, the, wh, sh, th" and long vowel sounds. Students will play games to practice the digraphs. We will also review the long vowel sounds so that we can blend the digraphs and the long vowels and a silent "e". Students will also add letters to the middle of the word to form and read words. 
We will use games, visual aids, and the whiteboard on the screen/in the child's home to practice the material in this class. Students will have opportunity to answer together and individually; as well as, interacting with their classmates. We will do fun activities so that students can have fun learning. 
A knowledge of long vowel sounds will benefit the student.

Hello, my name is Parri! 
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass. 
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person. 
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
