***Please note: We will not be playing Minecraft in class. This is a flexible schedule class, so no live meetings will be held.***

Writing doesn't have to be scary or hard. In fact, it can be fun! In this class, we'll spend four weeks talking about Minecraft and developing our ideas so that we can write paragraphs. Students will write one paragraph about Minecraft every week and share it directly in our Outschool classroom. This class is designed to help your student feel more comfortable with their own writing abilities, as well as with their understanding of paragraph writing.

In this class, your child can expect to:
-Watch videos shared by the teacher
-Read paragraphs written by the teacher and other learners
-Complete word search puzzles and other printable worksheets
-Practice writing complete sentences
-Write four paragraphs about Minecraft (one per week)
-Receive feedback from the teacher about their writing abilities

Week One: Let's write about Minecraft! What is this game? Why is it important? What's so special about playing Minecraft? Your child will choose from a selection of writing prompts and will write a 3-7 sentence paragraph about why they like Minecraft. They'll post this in the classroom and will receive feedback from the teacher.

Week Two: What are the best characters in Minecraft? Do you like pets, such as cats and dogs? Maybe you prefer mobs, such as zombies or creepers. This week, students will write a paragraph about the character they like best in the game. They will produce 3-7 sentences and post this in the classroom. The teacher will provide feedback for them.

Week Three:Creative VS Survival. Which mode is the best? What's cool about creative? How is survival mode important? This week's paragraph will be all about which mode is the most interesting. Students will produce 3-7 sentences and post this in the classroom. The teacher will provide feedback for them.

Week Four: Let's build! What's the coolest material to build with? What do you like to build? This week's paragraph is all about building and what the most interesting things to build are. Students will produce 3-7 sentences and post this in the classroom. The teacher will provide feedback for them.

Each week, your child can expect to write a paragraph and share it with our group about Minecraft. If they are uncomfortable posting their paragraph, they can send it to me privately and I will provide them with feedback. Additionally, students will interact in the Outschool classroom frequently. We will also complete compare/contrast activities within the classroom and will practice describing different Minecraft elements to assist students with learning to write their paragraphs.

I will provide support in the form of videos and posts; however, I am always available to my students via messaging, as well.

I look forward to seeing you in the classroom!
