Class Experience
What could be more fun that writing about one's adventures and family? In this course, we will go over how to write your college essay, as well as actually write the essay itself. We will go over what is expected of a college essay, as well as what colleges are looking for you to write. Students will be expected to understand that there will be a lot of talking, as well as writing, in an effort to help the student build an essay with their own voice. Students will have the opportunity to create a Google Doc or word document that we will share and edit together throughout the session, while also adding the essay questions to the schools they choose to apply. Since this is an essay writing class focused on college essay writing, students may also have questions and other college topics, such as short answer questions or what else to include in the application. These can also be answered on each session, as the goal, again, is to provide as much information and teach the student how to garner acceptance to the colleges of his, her, or their choice. The class, itself, will be structured in a way that the student typically brings a rough draft (though not required) of an essay they want to work on, or, at the very least, the questions required for each school that he, she, or they need to answer. Then, we work on the essays, usually finishing one to two each session.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have over 14 years of helping students with their college search and essays. I have helped them get into colleges from Cornell, Columbia, Dartmouth, and Stanford to state schools such as Wisconsin, Washington, Michigan, and UCLA to international universities such as McGill and St. Andrew's. A majority of my students have gotten into their first choice of school, though I have had some get into second and third choices, as well.
