What's included
8 live meetings
8 in-class hoursHomework
1-2 hours per week. I do provide homework after each session as a way to keep the material fresh in each student's mind. I also provide practice exams after the first session with specific details on how to take each exam.Class Experience
In this course, students will be taught how to master the ACT, from learning the tips and tricks associated with the test to the actual material contained therein. Specifically, students will learn English grammar, syntax, she rhetorical skills; trigonometry; algebra basics; statistics basics; logic for the Science section; and how to comprehend the reading section better. In addition, I will provide tricks on how to best utilize time, how to discern the correct from incorrect answers by way of patterns, how to find the correct answers in science, and how to get through the reading section faster and more accurately. From the first session on, I will constantly be assessing each student for understanding of material by way of asking questions, as well as gestures they present. Our class will be best utilized with students interacting with both me and the material, as I want them asking questions on anything they do not understand. Further, while they are online, I will have them show their answers and ask how each came up with said answer if the question is tricky or there is some difference between the student answers. When we study the mathematics section, specifically, I will also utilize a whiteboard to allow students to see how to do problems, as well as allow them to save the work as notes on their computers. I ask students to have paper handy to take notes, as well, as I want them using days notes on any practice test or homework I give. I start the first class by assessing each student in the basic subjects, seeing that they have learned in both mathematics and English, while also seeing how they learn and look at material. In each subsequent session, I then take what they've learned and build upon it each session. After the first session, the next 3-4 sessions will focus specifically on mathematics and English, as those are the two most associated with the need to learn concepts. Once students have mastered each concept, I have them retake the section they studied on the first practice test I gave and see if they notice anything with the questions they missed. Over the next 3 sessions, we move to science and reading. I work with the students to learn how to look at questions logically, as these sections require the student to not have prior knowledge. This, in turn, allows the student to find the correct answer at a greater frequency than prior. The last session will be used to ask questions and ensure the student is ready to take the exam. I will make sure to tighten up any concerns they may have, as well as help them prepare what to do and bring on test day.
