25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Children will participate in an interactive story time with verses and stories told using a pocket apron. This story time will include verses and stories with animals, snow and magical winter wonders. Stories include a hedgehog, a fox and even a Tomten. Winter Solstice, Dec 21, the darkest day of the year, will include stories to mark the day. Children will get a chance to pick a pocket on the story apron, and find out who is hiding inside! I will also share my nature table with students, that includes elements to help celebrate the season and bring nature inside. This story time is based on the seasons in the Northern Hemisphere.

Supply List
No supplies are needed for this class, but you may be inspired to set up a nature table after the class. Any small table, desk, or even a shelf, can be set up using items found in nature - pine cones, rocks, flowers - and a few items from around the home - a pretty silk or cloth, a jam jar for flowers, perhaps a small toy or two.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I offer classes in arts and crafts as well as English, Creative Writing, Social Emotional Learning, Career Planning and Media Studies. My work is inspired by Waldorf, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and unschooling.
I am a mother to 3 always homeschooled children, now almost all grown up. I attended Waldorf schools from the time I was 7 and graduated from a Waldorf high school in Canada. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature, Religion, Film and Media Studies, and a diploma in Special Education. I am studying Counseling Psychology in graduate school. I have spent almost 20 years working with a diverse range of children and families.
I am flexible, caring and creative. I have always enjoyed working with children, starting off babysitting as a teen, working at summer camps and tutoring while in high school. After having children, I found that I loved being with them and learning together, and so we homeschooled from the start. It has been almost 20 years now, and we still love learning together.
I currently work as a tutor and education assistant for home learning families, while completing Masters in Counseling Psychology at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
I love writing, making art, and learning new things. I value mutual respect and life long learning. As an out of the box thinker, I encourage conversations, curiosity and creativity.
I aspire to make learning fun, interactive and engaging for all learners. I live near the ocean and the mountains, with my husband, our 3 children, 2 curious cats, and one very old dog.
