Enroll early with our code! Get $10 off our winter camps with coupon code CODEAIWINTER10 until Dec 15, 2024. In this engaging Roblox Game Design camp, students dive into Roblox Studio, exploring essential tools and techniques to bring their ideas to life. In our first lesson, they’ll set up their own Roblox workspace, learning about Roblox and Lua scripting basics and experimenting with key Studio tools and game templates. From there, they’ll begin crafting their own world, designing a house by inserting and transforming objects while exploring object properties to add detail. As students advance, they’ll use union tools to merge shapes, add visual effects, and employ the terrain editor to enhance their creations. For added complexity, they’ll work with dynamic attachments and motors to animate an autocar of their own design. Once scripting is introduced, they’ll be able to program simple actions using variables, loops, and commands, creating a colorful light show that reacts to their code. To round out the camp, a mini-project will tie together all of these skills as students build and script an exciting obstacle course, showcasing their newfound abilities and confidence in Roblox Studio.
Learning Goals
Understand and navigate Roblox Studio’s core tools and windows to create custom game elements.
Learn basic Lua scripting to manipulate objects, variables, and create interactive features.
