Where in Australia can you find a platypus, go scuba diving, or explore the Outback? Join me on an interactive scavenger hunt around Australia! As a continuation of my "Where in the World" class series, young learners will have the opportunity to explore the Australian continent while searching for different country specific items. During our virtual field trip, learners will go on a make believe journey to six different Australian cities/regions. Through a multimedia presentation that includes maps, photos, and videos we will experience: -Scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef -Listening to a didgeridoo in Sydney -Exploring Katoomba Falls in the Blue Mountains -Finding a platypus in Tasmania -Visiting the kangaroos on Kangaroo Island -A road trip through the Outback along Gibb River Road in the Kimberly region We will also learn several different Australian slang terms! Our journey around Australia will be very interactive and full of movement and activities to keep young children engaged! Each learner will be provided with two printable handouts prior to the class. The first handout will contain six pictures of items to look for as we explore each city/region. Children will be encouraged to keep their eyes open for the items on the printable, and they can circle each item as we find it. The second handout will contain the names of the cities/regions we will visit, with a space to match each specific item. After class is over, students may glue the scavenger hunt pictures to the city/region where we found them. Let’s go on an adventure! I can’t wait to explore Australia with your tiny traveler!
Learning Goals
-Students will learn the names of six Australian cities/regions. They will learn about one interesting sight in each city/region, and they will also learn some fun Australian slang words.
