From the outback to the forests, there is no shortage of cute, deadly, and dangerous animals! Many animals in the world are unique to Australia, whether its in the outback, a swamp, or a lush forest. Each week, we will learn all about two different animals lifestyles, the adaptations that allow them to thrive in environments that are often extreme, reproduction, predators, and the impact that human activity holds for each animal on a day-to-day basis. Conservation is always a running theme through my classes. Week 1: Koala, Tasmanian Devil Week 2: Platypus, Echidna Week 3: Cassowary, Thorny Devil Week 4: Frilled Lizard, Red Back Spider Week 5: Dingo, Red Kangaroo Week 6: Inland Taipan, Cane Toad Week 7: Sugar Gliders, Blue Ringed Octopus Week 8: Quokka, Rainbow Lorikeet Week 9: Wombat, Common Death Adder Week 10: Jumping Spiders, Emu Week 11: Bilby, Quoll Week 12: Sydney Funnel Web, Great White Shark Week 13: Tree Kangaroo, Irukandji Jellyfish Week 14: Holy Cross Frog, Scrub Python Week 15: Blue-Tongued Skink, Fairy Penguin Week 16: Lion Fish, Manta Ray Week 17: Grey-Headed Flying Fox, Whale Shark Week 18: Bearded Dragon, Ghost Bat Week 19: Hawksbill Sea Turtle, Cone Snail Week 20: Leafy Sea Dragon, Blobfish Each week, I will provide your learner with a vocabulary sheet and a pre-class video. I look forward to meeting your learner! Ms. Marie:)
Learning Goals
Students will understand how animals can thrive in even the harshest environments due to specialized adaptations necessary for survival. Students will learn many things such as habitat, behavior, diet, and fascinating facts about 2 amazing Australian species each week. There will be some live appearances from my own collection of reptiles every now and then, when relevant to the class material.
