Picking the right path for your education is a difficult choice. As a student, one of the choices you might need to make is whether or not to join the IB Diploma Program. The IB (International Baccalaureate) is a well-known and respected option for 11th-12th graders. Is it best for you? Join me for a 50 minute 1-time class where you will learn the ins and outs about the IB. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to education. I have worked with the IB for years as an IB Coordinator. In my work with prospective IB students, I have found a Q & A platform is really helpful. Is IB too hard? How does it compare to AP? How do universities accept the IB Diploma? What if I want to study abroad for university? What are my course options if I do IB? The first 20 minutes is an interactive presentation. Then, there will be a Q & A section for 10 minutes. We will end the session with 20 minutes of analyzing each participant's situation. This course is open to 8th, 9th, and 10th grade students interested to learn more about the IB Diploma Program.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I teach assorted Social Studies, Spanish, and French classes. I also teach informational classes about Advanced Placement (AP) classes and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program. I will cycle back through popular classes, but for the most part, I will keep the classes I teach fresh and diverse for both myself and my students.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in History a Minor in Spanish. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching with an Oregon Teaching License for Social Studies and Spanish for teaching K-12 students. I have taught the following courses over the last five years and I am currently still teaching IB History and AP World History: AP US History, 8th grade US History, Histoire du Maroc (History of Morocco in French), Government & Politics, Contemporary Issues, Estudios Sociales (Social Studies in Spanish), and Economics. I am also currently the IB Diploma Program Coordinator at my school and will occasional offer classes about the IB.
Educational theories help provide a foundation to my beliefs about teaching. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences, and Bloom’s Taxonomy are all theories I value. These, combined with my innate desire to teach and help others, will contribute to my awareness of the needs of my students. Through differentiated instruction and assessment, I will spur on all students to higher thinking.
I taught outside of the USA for 5 years, spending two years in Guatemala and three years in Morocco. Teaching at international schools overseas has formed me into the globally minded teacher I am today.
I love my wife and am so thankful for her. We enjoy hiking, swimming, traveling, and reading together.
