Assessment will be taken through informal discussions throughout the class.Class Experience
Students will learn the broad aspects of what goes into writing a screenplay, covering brainstorming ideas, character development, drafting, and final product (which students can finish on their own). The class will start with the idea of formatting and brainstorming (asking students what kind of stories they like/want to hear), discussing characters and what makes characters feel fleshed-out, and then beginning to write. Over video, students will discuss and share their ideas, sharing what they wish. My teaching style is calm and approachable, and I would like to begin the class with a small icebreaker/check in of sorts. There will be plenty of interaction, through the aforementioned icebreakers, discussion, etc. No required experience needed!
Learning Goals
Students will examine the elements of storytelling through the medium of film.
