This is the same material as the popular 35-minute Vocabulary Workshop, but students receive an extra 20 minutes of guided practice using the new words and writing sentences. A large vocabulary is critical to future success on standardized tests, in college, and in the workplace. So why not start building a better vocabulary right now? In this ongoing weekly class, students will learn 10 vocabulary words during each session. We will examine each word's etymology, part of speech, synonyms, antonyms, and use in language. Students will also be given access to a Quizlet (online flashcards and games) to practice the words outside of class. All words are taken from SAT/ACT vocabulary lists and will be different each week. As this is an ongoing class, students are welcome to attend some or all weeks and to skip classes when necessary. Example word set: verbose, urbane, revere, preclude, malevolence, gregarious, equivocal, enumerate, bias, aromatic

On a personal note, I have homeschooled all five of my children and taught them all to read and write... and with each it has been a different experience!
