In this one-to-one tutoring-style class, students can work with their own vocabulary lists from homework, diagnostic tests, Word Masters, or we will work on grade level words with a robust vocabulary instruction method.
Class Experience
US Grade 4 - 8
This one-to-one class will be a deep dive into the vocabulary that your student needs to master. Some examples of class content could include: -Vocabulary work from another class -Studying words for a diagnostic test -Word Masters lists -Vocabulary needed for an upcoming debate, or -Any other word list including ones I can provide I will prepare varied contexts and practice activities that will enable the student to retain and use their target words in their reading, writing, and everyday...
To ensure effective tutoring, the teacher suggests meeting 2x per week. Book additional recurring meetings after the initial purchase.- Students will learn new or target words to be able to use them in context and understand them on tests and when they read.
I am a certified teacher in English and journalism. I have worked in SAT/ACT prep and have experience with Word Masters. I am trained in robust vocabulary instruction through the State of Iowa and incorporate vocabulary work into all my tutoring session because of its importance.
While a vocabulary list is not required, students are able to upload copies of vocabulary lists for use in class. These lists should be readable as a PDF, image, Google doc or other document that can easily be given and accessed by Lisa.
