Join me in this fun Unicorn themed sight word class. We will complete reading pages and play unicorn themed sight word games while learning 20 new sight words. The class size will stay small to ensure each child gets adequate practice and interaction. Class time will be structured as follows: 1. introductions 2. use picture clues to sound out each word and read sight words together 3. practicing sight words independently 4. reading page and/or sight word game The teacher will use a variety of teaching methods and resources. Students will practice reading their sight words, finding them in text and writing them. Students will practice reading short sight word sentences with teacher support. We will be using sight words from the Dolch Sight Word List for ages 4-6. Here are the sight words we will learn: at, all, will, well, but for, not, now, no, new as, ask, was, what, can an, any, am, say, are *Every student develops reading readiness at different rates. To take this class your child needs to be beginning to recognize sight words and know the alphabet and sounds. If you have a 4 year old that is beginning to recognize sight words, you may enroll in this class. You will need to be able to print 4 pages that will go with each session. The reading pages we will use were purchased by me on Teachers Pay Teachers. I have the permission to use this from the author A Teachable Teacher.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, my name is Teacher Trisha. I graduated from Drury University with a Bachelors in Education. I hold certifications in Elementary Education, Special Education, and the TESOL. I have taught children for over 10 years. I like to make learning fun and laugh as much as possible. I am a hands-on, visual learner; therefore, I tend to teach with those techniques. In the public school setting, I have taught grades K-8 in various subjects: computer and library class, reading, science, math and tutoring. Currently, I am a homeschool mom and an online English instructor.
I really enjoy teaching science. I love making it hands-on and watching the excitement on their faces as they make their own discoveries and ask new questions! My classes are fun and engaging! I truly believe when students are having fun they are more likely to want to learn more.
In our house, we love to read and do Science experiments (outside) almost everyday. Our favorite experiment is called the Oobleck (it's mandatory to do this one outside) and I plan to teach a Science Unit that incorporates this "all-time kid favorite" experiment. Outside of teaching, I love to kayak with my husband, read to my kids, and do Science experiments with my kids.
