Class Experience
Students will be introduced to the sounds of each letter. Teacher use puppets to interact with students. The puppets are a great tool to motivate students into participation and having fun during the lesson. The teacher does not introduce the alphabet in order. This is a special curriculum where students learn reading using one vowel and two consents at the same time. First week they will learn A,B, and T sounds. The first word they will learn to read will be "AT". The teacher will tailor each child's progress. Since this class will be more on tutoring a student to learn to read the teacher will make sure to assess the student first and then start from the assessment to meet the goals. The main objective is to help the student get confidence in the world of reading. Along with the instruction the teacher will use a variety of books to motivate the student into reading. The instructor will be sending parents reports of the student's progress. The instructor likes to give a five minute everyday routine practice for the student to acquire the necessary knowledge and learn phonics daily. This is the reason why is essential for the student to practice a 3 to five minutes a day on their own. It is 95% more effective when students practice reading every day to become better readers. The instructor will start the tutoring session with a song and then she will move to the activity of the day. The teacher will work with the student according to his/he strengths and needs.
