This one time class will discuss what ADHD is, will embrace it as a strength, and will review several strategies and tools. This class is informative and the strategies discussed are not treatment or counseling but rather educational in nature. The focus of the class will be on putting the different tools that students learn about to work. Students will improve their understanding of ADHD and will develop a toolkit of strategies to assist them when they are dealing with hyperactivity and impulsivity. Class Structure: -Check In/ Meet Our Class (5 minutes) -Lesson: What is ADHD? ( 10 minutes) -Movement break ( 5 minutes) -Lesson/ Game: Developing a Toolkit of Strategies (14 minutes) -Wrap-up (6 minutes)
I have many years of experience working with students in various settings. I have a graduate degree in School Psychology. Currently, I work as a School Psychologist serving students in grades K through 12. I have attended various trainings on working with students that have ADHD and am familiar with executive functioning coaching. My training and experience allows me to teach others about coping strategies, aspects of mindfulness, gratitude, and self care.
This class will not be therapeutic in nature. The purpose of this class is to be an informative where students can learn new information and general strategies.
