In this semester-long course, students will learn basic forms of creative writing. At the end of the class, they will have a portfolio of writing samples. They will also be provided with resources for publication if they are interested in pursuing this outlet. This schedule is a rough estimate of the semester curriculum. Students will learn basic forms of creative writing as well as editing, revising, and publishing techniques.
I am a certified English teacher and have participated in creative writing for most of my life, including formal classes, writing clubs, National Novel Writing Month, and personal study. I have taught diverse learners in a classroom setting for several years.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
All material will be school-appropriate. However, as this is a creative writing course, classmates may choose to write about sensitive topics.
