Bienvenidos! Welcome! In this 4-week class students will be introduced to the basics of Spanish conversation! This is the perfect class to get your student speaking and improving their pronunciation and confidence with the Spanish language through small-class practice conversations and fun activities! No prior experience with or knowledge of Spanish is necessary! Each week we will be focusing on a few key phrases and vocabulary words. Research shows that the best way to learn another language isn't through grammar drills but through actual conversation practice and this is what we will focus on. Here is what will be covered each week: Week 1: Greetings and Introductions - This week students will learn basic Spanish greetings and practice their pronunciation. We will also cover how to introduce yourself (Name, age, where you're from) and practice this basic introductory conversation with each other. Week 2: Likes and Dislikes - This week students will review our greetings and be introduced to having a conversation about likes and dislikes. Students will learn how to say "I like..." and "I don't like..." as well as ask questions to someone else about their likes and dislikes. Week 3: Family and Pets - This week we will review our likes/dislikes conversation as well as be introduced to having a conversation about your family and pets Students will learn how to say who is in their family (I have a...) as well as tell us their name (Their name is...). Week 4: Activities - This week students will review having a conversation about their family as well as be introduced to having a conversation about activities they do (I do...I play...). Students will practice this conversation with each other. We will also play a fun game to review everything we've learned so far! Note: This is a beginner's Spanish class and will focus on Mexican Spanish.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! I am a creative, fun and patient Environmental Educator, Spanish and English teacher, and certified Permaculture designer. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies, French and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Go Badgers!) as well as a TESOL certification I received in Thailand before teaching there for a year. I am a former Peace Corps volunteer and spent four years in Mexico as an Environmental Education volunteer working with kids in rural schools. I have also worked as an online English teacher for over a year. Teaching kids is truly my greatest joy!
I am passionate about the environment and love teaching kids about composts, gardens, energy, and climate change! I am also fluent in Spanish and enjoy teaching fun vocabulary and introductory conversation classes. I also love working with kids on life skills such as public speaking and confidence building and try to incorporate them as much as possible in my classes.
When I'm not teaching you can find me embroidering, reading mystery books, writing and tending to my vegetable garden. I can't wait to meet you, let's learn something fun together!
